accept yourself

I’ve been telling one of my
children that I believe something that would help them in a struggle is radical self love.

Love yourself when you’re not “perfect”.
Accept yourself unconditionally.
Be kind in how you speak to yourself.
Give yourself grace

It really is hard sometimes.

I am telling my child because I’ve had to learn this for myself and am still learning it.

We want to feel deep frustration at ourselves and when we fall short. We feel shame. Irritation. Anger. Guilt. Annoyance.

i am working hard at when I feel those feelings to just sit with them and SEE them with love. Ask questions and why I feel that way and then just love myself.

I don’t always do this perfectly well.

But I truly believe healing starts and ends with love. For others, for ourselves.

Love doesn’t have to mean you want to stay the same. But it does mean you accept all parts of yourself. you don’t shove things down. You don’t get angry. I mean, we do sometimes, right, but the goal is to unconditionally accept ourselves in love.

I think the world would be so much more healed if we could do this with ourselves.
